Freecycle or Freeloadcycle?
DirtyLaundryDiva I used to be an avid freecycle member. Getting something you really need for free because someone doesn’t need it anymore is nice. It is also great to be able to post unwanted stuff on there and have needy people come get it from you. Saves a trip to the dump or to the thrift store!
These days it seems Freecycle is overrun with greedy, shameless, wining bitches! The other day someone had the nerve to post a nasty complaint about a free item that they received… It was FREE and if you didn’t want it why did you ask for it?
Also, I don’t enjoy reading all the far fetched ISO and WANTED posts. They out number the OFFER posts 3 to 1 which just screams greedy bitches!
People have even had the gall to ask for a things like a KitchenAid mixer, a Louis Vuitton handbag and an Apple IPOD. The list just goes on and on. “I need a designer wedding dress because I went over our budget”, “I am fat and need to jog so I want a free IPOD”… Blah, blah blah.
Um, nobody owes you anything folks and to see so many people openly begging and expecting free high end stuff is just disgusting and oh so selfish. We all worked for our shit and didn’t cry for handouts.
If by some chance someone were to offer one of those things up feel free to ask for it but don’t randomly beg and whine about needing these high end things, get off your ass and get a job if you must have it don’t expect us to pitty you and just give you a handout!

I so totally agree!! I loved the one who wanted a CAR and requested that it be running, too! Too bad there are the greedy who take the purpose of freecycle and trash the whole idea!
I know what you mean! It got so bad with my FL Freecycle group that they had to enstate a rule that of you wanted to post a wanted, you first had to post an offer. Here in NM people seem to be much more sensible. But if I post a wanted for something, I always post an offer first, it’s only right. What bugs me is when I post an offer and I get a response like “oh you must give it to me because I’m a single working mom with 20 kids and blah blah blah.” Yeah, well I’m broke too. No sympathy here babe.
Amen to that sista !!
Just today My Freecycle group in Knoxville Tn had many ISO posts for things such as working major appliances, expensive building materials, furniture and antique collectibles. There were two offers–both for junk mail coupons! I ask, how much space does a coupon take up in a landfill? There are over 8,000 members of Knoxville Freecycle and that’s the best any one has to offer? The other day I offered a children’s musical activity gym in good condition w/batteries and the man that came to pick it up had a pick-up loaded down w/ items and was unconcerned with the workings of the toy. He was obviously not picking it up for his own child. It is my belief this group is a scam! The moderator must be working the posts to seem on the up and up with a team of people & scimming the gifts for themselves, possibly to resale for profit.
