Looking to order plants, pest control or gardening supplies via the internet? Do you want a company that will actually ship your order or do you want to be scammed? If you are in the market for flowers, trees or any other gardening supplies you need to read this!

Back in 2006 I placed an order for 1500 live lady bugs to help control the aphids in my garden. The order was placed back on 1/28/06 from www.abetterplant.com three days later I find out the site had been taken down and is no longer doing business.

The site only displayed an expired domain notice, I used whois.net to look up company contact info and I inquired about my order. I was contacted by www.abetterplant.com on 2/4/06 and was told that my order was out for shipping already and that the business was closing down over personal issues/ divorce.

I contacted the business again on 2/16/06 to get a confirmation number since my order was still not in my possession. I never got a response to my email. I reported the business (www.ABetterPlant.com) to ripoffreport.com and then began doing my own research.

A search on Google search on Chris Gilcrest brings up a whole slew of commentary and other people’s experiences with the guy. From what I read Chris Gilcrest is the type of person that gives online business a bad name, he offers products via the web that people pay for but never receive!

Freaking amazing, shameless bastard! I only lost about $12.00 in this scam but my point in posting this was to warn everyone about the site www.growquest.com so they didn’t loose any money. Chris Gilcrest owns and operates this business (and several others) and is still “doing business”, though it it unclear how many orders are actually being fulfilled.

I was trying to order ladybugs from a different company since www.abetterplant.com was not shipping my order and I discovered several companies that were tied to him. I am not sure why the site is still up an operating after all the fraud and other charges but don’t order from them if you would be mad over getting scammed!!

  • www.growquest.com
  • www.abetterplant.com
  • surfandsierra.com
